About The Position

Ukrainian National Federation –Toronto Branch runs children’s’ programing including a day camps located at 145 Evans Ave., Etobicoke. Camp Soniashnyk has been in operation for over 10 years and has become a yearly tradition at the Toronto Branch. The daily program schedule is based on S.T.E.A.M. concepts with fun activities incorporating skilled workshops, themed days, crafts, outdoor fun, baking, and so much more, all while learning about culture & traditions. All activities and procedures are in line with new Ministry of Health parameters.

If you love working with children, have a can-do attitude, experience multitasking, and are available for seasonal employment opportunities, you might be the right person for the job!

The Camp Counselor will help foster the culture aspect through self-leadership, passion, creativity and hospitality. Counselors are responsible for being an active part in planning and implementing all camp activities. Ability to effectively communicate with campers, parents, and other staff. This position requires a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and adaptability to any situation.

These positions are funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Grant and applicants must qualify in accordance with the terms of the grant provisions. *Available for students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Camp Soniashnyk Program Leader the counselor(s) will:

  • Provide a safe, secure, sanitary, and engaging environment for all children and employees
  • Show empathy for your campers and fellow staff, even in a stressful situation
  • Lead a group of children through daily task: insuring SAFETY, Fun and Respect
  • Run projects and daily fun activities: crafts, baking, outdoor fun, etc.
  • Support strong classroom and behavioral management skills
  • Participate in finding creative ways to make camp a fun environment for campers
  • Celebrating campers’ awesomeness and growth
  • Work with an amazing team from all walks of life while following all protocols
  • Show strong communication with manager/supervisor and parent/guardian as it relates to child’s activities and any concerns
  • Report any items or behaviors that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members, or guests, including suspicious behavior or action, or violation of policy.
  • Ensure that all equipment and supplies are in safe working condition
  • Complete appropriate administrative tasks in a timely manner (i.e., attendances, head counts, incident reports, program plans, etc.)
  • Participate in staff training, orientation sessions, professional development sessions.
  • Takes direction from Program Manager and Supervisors
  • Maintain professional relationships with peers, members, volunteers, parents, and other staff
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings
  • Arrive no later than 10 minutes prior to scheduled shift.
Qualifications and Desired Skills
  • Must be a student (15 years or older) currently enrolled in Secondary or Post-Secondary education, in Canada (As per the requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs Grant)
  • Love children. Empathetic and caring.
  • Ability to turn any boring activities into exciting one
  • Must be punctual and professional
  • Experience working with children 6 to 12 years old
  • Strong skills in one or more of the following areas: sports, arts, swimming, recreation, education, health, and nutrition
  • Strong supervision and program planning skills

The interactive camp program is based on S.T.E.A.M. concepts with fun activities incorporating skilled workshops, themed days, crafts, outdoor fun, baking, and so much more, all while learning about culture & traditions in a warm and inviting natural environment. All activities and procedures are in line with new Ministry of Health parameters.

  • Supervise swimming activities

About The Position

UNO Bistro is a community based short order and café Bistro Eatery & Event Space located within the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada Toronto Branch community center at 145 Evans Ave. in Toronto. We are a “Lviv Coffee House” themed space offering the local community a Ukrainian-Canadian social and culinary experience. Enjoy our warm and welcoming atmosphere and a mix of Ukrainian & Canadian culinary delights along with special events and performances throughout the month.

The Server is responsible for taking food and beverage orders; entering orders quickly and in proper sequence; serving food and beverages for guests; coordinating with the kitchen to ensure timely service and quality of the food; and providing the highest quality of service to the customer at all times; performs all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by management.

Key Responsibilities

The Bistro Server :

  • Takes food and beverage orders, places orders, delivers orders, checks back after delivery of food to ensure guest satisfaction, observes guests to respond to any additional needs.
  • Maintains table appearance by pre-bussing, checks drink levels, removes clutter and provides adequate napkins, etc.
  • Presents check and processes payments.
  • Follows UNO Bistro customer service, adult beverage and cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Keeps station clean, sets up and takes down station tables appropriately.
Qualifications and Desired Skills
  • Must have a “Smart Serve” Certificate.
  • Must meet minimum age for serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Previous serving experience is an asset.

About The Position

We are looking for a skilled Ukrainian Cuisine Cook to prepare delicious meals according to the UNO Bistro menu. You will cook dishes that will delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery.

An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals.

They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important.

Essential Functions
  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
  • Cook food in to order.
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
  • Check quality of ingredients.
  • Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment
  • Must have Dine-Safe Qualifitcation
  • Previous food prep experience is an asset.
  • Must be able to produce Ukrainian menu items.
Position Conditions
  • Part Time and Full Time Hours are available.
  • Weekend & Evening Hours are Required.
