60 Delegates gathered from across the organization’s 13th UNF Branches in Canada to discuss important organizational issues, elect a new Board of Directors & National Executive and to chart a course for the organization’s future.

The weekend began with the conventions’ administrative reports and committee working sessions. The working committees of the convention were tasked with developing the organization’s resolutions, selecting a new board of directors, and working through changes to the organization’s bylaws, operating policies and procedures.

Guest Speaker Mr. Ken Kravetz, former Deputy Premier and current Chief of Staff of the Provincial government of Saskatchewan addressed the delegates and guests using his own life story to highlight the Convention’s motto “Believe, Inspire, Lead”. Mr. Kravetz spoke about the deep emotional impact the story of the Holodomor had on him when he visited Ukraine and how this inspired him to work with the local Ukrainian Canadian community and the Provincial government to find a suitable location for a memorial to the Holodomor. Liuba Krupina, an accomplished cellist provided lovely background dinner music and the Lastiwka Ukrainian Orthodox Choir and Orchestra of Saskatoon under the direction of Larry Klopouschak and the children of the UNF Ridna Shkola, conducted by Katerina Nakutny entertained the guests.
