On April 29th, 2020, UNF Ottawa-Gatineau held their second successful virtual presentation with two experts involved in healthcare and infectious diseases. The title of the event was “Keeping our Community Safe and Healthy from COVID 19”. The pandemic has been challenging for all of us, so a presentation from two experts in Ottawa, along with a lengthy Q&A period was well received by all, Many participants tuned in from UNF Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal branches.

Dr. Melania Buba, former President of UNF-OG and current executive member, has become the lead for patient flow at CHEO’s (Children’s Hospital) newly developed Regional Response Centre. She shared with us ‘insider” information regarding how the new centre may become a prototype for Canada with virtual care involving patients, families and doctors simultaneously.

Dr. Sherrie Kelly, an infectious disease global health modeler shared vital statistics not only In Ontario but globally. A Powerpoint presentation is also available as well as a Youtube presentation, for those that might have missed this exceptional event. An article outlining this event was also written for New Pathway and is available here.

UNF O-G is proud of our first line defenders and grateful that they could share professional insights with us during these very demanding times.
