The UNF-Winnipeg Branch collaborated with UCC-MPC Project CARE to supply over 500 Self-Care Kits and deliver them to Ukrainian Canadian Senior community members who are living independently in Manitoba.

The Self-Care Kit composed a reusable face mask, one alcohol-based hand sanitizer and one package of anti-bacterial hand wipes to be used as precautionary measures to help stop the spread of the virus. Contained in the kit was a bilingual information sheet that provided instructions on how to effectively use the items supplied. Additional articles included were a prayer card, hand soap, and dental kit, as well as other items.

UNF-Winnipeg Branch was proud to be an active participant in Project CARE and was instrumental in co-coordinating the project along side UCC-MPC. UNF-Winnipeg Branch’s family organizations contributed to the preparation and distribution of the kits.

With the financial assistance of UNF Foundation, UNF -Winnipeg Branch was able to distribute 125 kits to the following family organizations to help their seniors: O. Koshetz Ukrainian Choir, Rusalka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, Rusalka UNF School of Dance, Camp Rusalka and UNF Club. Follow the link below to see how the Rusalka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble participated

On Monday July 20, 2020, at the UNF hall in Winnipeg (935 Main Street), a program was presented by Joanne Lewandosky (UNF-Winnipeg President), the kits were presented to the public in the presence of Metropolitans Yurij Kalistchuk (Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada) and Lawrence Huculak (Ukrainian Catholic Church of Canada) and invited guests.
