TORONTO (June 20, 2022) – The Ukrainian National Federation of Canada (UNF), together with THE U.N.F. FOUNDATION, are proud to announce the launch of “Together We Are Strong | Разом Ми Сила Project”, a comprehensive national Canadian initiative offering tailored programs and activities intended to help integrate and support families and children displaced by russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The project consists of three components: Wellness, Support, and Integration, each offering specific programs and support to newly arrived Ukrainians.
The project has been made possible by a $1 Million gift from The Joyce Family Foundation which has partnered with THE U.N.F. FOUNDATION, to launch this important initiative.
“The Joyce Family Foundation is dedicated to supporting the social, economic and emotional well-being of children and youth by empowering them to develop into healthy, confident, independent contributors to Canadian society.” Says Maureen O’Neill, Executive Director “As Canada welcomes an influx of Ukrainians fleeing the war on Ukraine, The Joyce Family Foundation is proud to support the UNF’s Together We Are Strong Program that is carrying out the core values of the Foundation’s mission for the displaced Ukrainians that have come to Canada.”

FOUNDATION, Chair. “As we continue to develop this work nationally, we encourage our Canadian community to connect with our organization to understand our work, get involved as volunteer, donate and advocate.”
With this gift, the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada will be able to deliver much needed services to displaced families and children across our entire Canadian branch network. Since receiving this donation, the team has already initiated training for community members working with persons who have experienced trauma, a summer day camp for children, English language classes, a family retreat program and wellness support programs and social events. Children’s cultural & educational programs, integration services such as employment and housing support, cultural adaptation and social activities and supports are just a few of the other initiatives that are under development.
“The UNF has been instrumental in supporting and integrating Ukrainians who have made Canada their home, be-it our founding members who established themselves after the First World War or supporting families with immigrating from Displaced Person’s Camps after Second World War” reflects Jurij Klufas, UNF National President. “We are proud to again be a beacon of support and stability to our fellow Ukrainians as they seek respite from the ravages of war.”
The Ukrainian National Federation of Canada is seeing firsthand the urgent need to provide support that will assist both Canadian-Ukrainians and newcomer Ukrainians. It is our belief that these programs will not only assist with short term relief for displaced families but also provide them with the long-term understanding of the values and morals of a great democratic country, which their counterparts at home are fighting so strongly to protect.
