Join us on August 26th for UNF Camp Sokil Golf Tournament 2023! Join us for another great day of golf in support of the UNF’s Camp Sokil. This tournament is an annual event and has helped our Organization support our Programs for Children focused on our recreational property Camp Sokil in Hawkestone, Ontario.

Background:
The children’s camp was built in 1959 and ran for 6 weeks during the summer. Girls had the first 3 weeks then the boys the second half. The following year it was reversed. Camp was successful and was full. However, on a yearly basis, renovations and repairs were always needed to be done. As well, new equipment for the camp was bought to keep the camp current.
The golfers continued to meet Saturday mornings at their Shanty Bay boardroom. Slowly this very small group of men began to grow. By the mid 70’s the first UNF Children’s Camp Golf Tournament was held. Proceeds from the tournament went back into supporting and improving the Children’s Camp.
The current golf committee has been organizing the tournament for 6 years now. We decided 3 years ago and with the approval of UNF Toronto Executive to fundraise specifically for a new children’s playground. Then several years ago the UNF Toronto Malanka committee joined us in allocating their proceeds towards the playground.
This project could not have come to fruition without the support of all the Corporate Sponsors, Hole Sponsors, the golfers, family and friends attending.
Camp Sokil’s program incorporates Ukrainian Canadian elements and also teaches campers about the importance of friendship, teamwork and service. Campers swim, canoe, craft and play, while they hone the skills and tools necessary to become leaders in our community and beyond. Join us this year as a sponsor to help continue the important work of Camp Sokil to allow us to continue providing invaluable experiences to children.
